Thank you for you interest in the Dragon Con Art Show. Dragon Con takes great pride in celebrating and honoring artists large and small for their many contributions to the world of fandom. The Dragon Con Art Show has a long tradition of spotlighting the best and brightest in the art community. We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Dragon Con Art Show will be undergoing significant change that will allow for artists’ to have more control over their art while still allowing for growth and greater fan participation.

GENERAL ART SHOW INFORMATION

ELECTRICITY AND PHONES/AV: Advance rates for access to an electrical plug are $50. Please indicate your electrical needs on the Art Show application. Telephone service and Internet must be arranged directly with the Hyatt Regency. A link to this information, along with a link to our Decorators shipping information, will be provided via email in summer of 2019.

SECURITY: Dragon Con will provide overnight security in the room and no one will be allowed in the art show once it has closed for the evening. All necessary items and valuables must be taken with the Artist when exiting after the Art Show closes each evening.

ART WORK SUBJECT MATTER: Dragon Con is home to a large number of people of all ages. Please use your best judgment regarding subject matter. Dragon Con reserves the right to remove any artwork deemed inappropriate.

SHIPMENTS: An email will be sent out in the summer with information on shipping. This kit is sent from Freeman, our official show decorator. Dragon Con will not accept personal shipments at the hotel. If you need to ship artwork to coincide with your arrival, please contact your hotel or the local Fed Ex office in the Hyatt Regency to make arrangements. Shipments may also go through our decorator Freeman as per details provided at a later date. Artists are permitted to carry in their own product to their assigned table only by hand or hand truck. Artist will be required to set up, breakdown and manage their space throughout the show.

ADVERTISING: Dragon Con offers several avenues for advertising at the show. Information will be available in the summer. In addition, Dragon Con will provide a dedicated Art Show section in our Quick Start Guide and on the official Dragon Con app.

ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS:

  • Attendance at Dragon Con is required in order to display work/sell merchandise; Artist or representative must be present and attend all four days.
  • Photography will be allowed in the Art Show. If you prefer not to have your artwork photographed please place appropriate signage at your table and/or booth.
  • Artists must comply with, and be bound by, all laws, ordinances, and regulations of the country, state, county, city, and facility.
  • Sales Tax Forms will be available prior to the show and on site. It is your responsibility to submit this paperwork directly to the State of Georgia Department of Revenue.
  • Retailers are not permitted to purchase space in the art show.
  • All work must be the creation of the exhibiting artist and should relate to areas of fandom including but not limited to animation, comics, science fiction, gaming or fantasy.
  • Fan art will be permissible given that it makes up no more than 25% of your displayed art. You must credit the owner/creator of artwork featuring a character that belongs to someone else. If an authorized agent of the copyright holder complains about the presence of the artwork in the show, we must (at a minimum) change its status to “Not For Sale” if you do not have written permission to use the property. No artwork may be displayed that defames any real person or fictional character. The ultimate decision on the appropriateness of the piece is at the discretion of the Art Show Director.
  • Artists are responsible for providing packaging for art sold. Dragon Con does not supply mailing tubes, bubble wrap, boxes, or other such materials.
  • Dragon Con no longer accepts mail in art and will not operate a print shop or a gallery auction at this time.
  • Dragon Con will operate a gallery where artists can display pieces with exposure aimed to direct sales to the specific artists’ space in the art show. Dragon Con will discontinue to practice of accepting money on behalf of the artist.
  • Dragon Con will continue to collect pieces that will be auctioned off for charity. In addition, we will once again offer the opportunity to complete an art project supporting the official Dragon Con Charity.
  • Dragon Con will offer programming throughout the show and will encourage artist participation. More details will be available in the spring.

* Everyone must exit the Grand Hall 30 minutes following closing.
+ Load out begins at 5 PM on Monday.

BAZAAR TABLE INFORMATION

LOCATION: The 2019 Dragon Con Art Show will be located in the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in the Grand Hall.

FEES: Art Show bazaar tables are six (6) feet long and include two chairs each. Art Show bazaar tables are $200.

MEMBERSHIPS: One (1) Artist Membership will be provided with each table. Additional memberships are available at $100 each and are limited to one additional membership per table. Any other memberships must be purchased through the Dragon Con website –www.dragoncon.org, at the prevailing rate.

ARTIST BOOTH INFORMATION

LOCATION: The 2019 Dragon Con Art Show will be located in the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in the Grand Hall.

FEES: Artist booths are 10’ x 8’ and include one 8 ft long table, 2 chairs, and wastebasket. Art Show booths are $500.

MEMBERSHIPS: One (1) Artist Membership and one (1) Membership will be provided with each booth. Additional memberships are available at $100 each and are limited to two additional memberships per booth. Any other memberships must be purchased through the Dragon Con website –www.dragoncon.org, at the prevailing rate.
