Scott Rorie is a freelance artist from Cary, North Carolina. Learning to draw at an early age, Scott won his first art show at 11 years old, when he won a school-wide art show. After studying art all through high school, he attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina majoring in Advertising Design. Although Scott works in many different media, his mainstay is the airbrush, which he taught himself to use. Like many airbrush artists, Scott started out painting t-shirts, but eventually moved on to canvas and illustration board. Scott's work can be found in homes from Maine to California, as well as Germany. Some of Scott's past clients include: Kane Hodder (Jason from Friday the 13th), Gunnar Hanson (Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Vernon Wells (Wez from Road Warrior), Elizabeth Grayson (from TV's Highlander), Barbara Leigh (Vampirella cover model), Barbie Blake (Penthouse model) and Peter Betz, a German businessman, who sold some of Scott's work through a friend's gallery in Germany. His awards include a 1st and 2nd Place Award at the Chiller Theatre Show in New Jersey, Best Black and White at Nexus in Orlando, Florida, and Best Mono-Chrome and Best Horror here at Dragon*Con. He has been published in Cavewoman from Basement Comics, Didymous from Iron Horse Comics, Con-Tour magazine, and Architectural Digest. In April 2006, Scott was invited to participate (and had five pieces accepted) in an art exhibit entitled NASCAR: Inspired at the Hickory, NC Museum of Art. As a result of the Hickory show, Scott was interviewed by Stock Car Pit Pass online magazine. Scott's pinup work is starting to gather a following here at Dragon*Con. Collectors come back to the art show each year to see what new pieces he has on display. Scott along with Joe Pekar ran the panel Pin-up Art: Why the Resurgence in 2007.
Scott lives in Cary, North Carolina, with his wife Ann and their two cats, Midnight and Ares. He can usually be found in his studio working on a fantasy or sci-fi pinup painting or on original NASCAR or railroad art.
