Keith R.A. DeCandido left home at a young age to pursue a career in fisheries, but came home when he realized he forgot to pack a lunch. He left home again after graduating college to pursue a career in publishing, at which he's had something resembling success.Keith has written more than 40 novels, as well as a whole mess of short stories, comic books, novellas, eBooks, and nonfiction pieces, most of which are in a variety of media universes ranging from TV shows (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Farscape, Star Trek, Supernatural, and more) to movies (Cars, Darkness Falls, Resident Evil, Serenity) to games (Command and Conquer, Dungeons & Dragons, StarCraft, World of Warcraft) and beyond.
He currently writes two monthly comics, the hugely successful Farscape series that continues the story after The Peacekeeper Wars—working in collaboration with series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon—and Cars: The Adventures of Tow Mater, based on the immensely popular Pixar film. Other recent and upcoming work includes Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon, his third novel based on the hit CW TV series; contributions to the Star Trek anthology Seven Deadly Sins and comic series Captain's Log and Alien Spotlight; and a Dungeons & Dragons novel tentatively titled Under the Crimson Sun, currently scheduled for summer 2011.
Keith is also a premier anthologist, having put together a dozen anthologies, most notably the award-winning Doctor Who: Short Trips: The Quality of Leadership, Star Trek: Tales of the Dominion War, and Star Trek: Tales from the Captain's Table. His editorial work has ranged far and wide, including editing the Marvel novels—the most comprehensive line of superhero novels yet published—from 1994-2000 and running the monthly Star Trek eBook line from 2000-2008.
In 2009, Keith was inexplicably granted a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers which means, if nothing else, that he never needs to accomplish anything ever again. He also earned his first-degree black belt in Kenshikai karate, which he considers one of the greatest accomplishment of his life.
When not writing, editing, or training, Keith is also a percussionist, having been a member of past Dragon*Con guests the Don't Quit Your Day Job Players and Boogie Knights.
Keith lives in New York City. Find out less at his mostly useless web site at DeCandido.net, read his inane ramblings at kradical.livejournal.com, or follow him around on Facebook or Twitter under the name KRADeC.
