Jack Campbell

Jack Campbell (John G. Hemry) is the author of the New York Times best-selling Lost Fleet series , Genesis Fleet series, and Lost Stars series, as well as the steampunk-meets-high-fantasy Pillars of Reality and Dragon's Legacy series (Dauntless, the first book in the Lost Fleet series, is on its 23rd printing). He's written all the comics for Titan's Lost Fleet Corsair comic series. His YA novel The Sister Paradox won the Epic 2018 ebook Young Reader award. His most recent books are Ascendant and Triumphant in the Genesis Fleet series "prequel" to the Lost Fleet, and Pirate Of The Prophecy, the beginning of a new steampunk/pirate/science fantasy series set on the world of The Dragons Of Dorcastle. His stories are in Cosmic Powers ("Wakening Ouroboros") and Infinite Stars ("Shore Patrol"). He has more than 30 books in print.

John's works are published in English, Japanese, French, German, Polish, Spanish, Czech, Hungarian, Finnish, Greek, Turkish, Hebrew, Chinese, and Russian. His shorter fiction includes time travel, alternate history, space opera, military SF, fantasy, and humor. Non-fiction work includes articles on declassified US military Cold War plans for bases on the Moon, and "Liberating the Future: Women in the Early Legion (of Superheroes)" in Sequart's Teenagers From the Future. At unpredictable intervals he gives his presentation on Everything I Needed To Know About Quantum Physics I Learned From The Three Stooges in which Stooge sketches are used to illustrate elements of quantum physics.

John is a retired US Navy officer, who served in a wide variety of jobs including surface warfare (the ship drivers of the Navy), amphibious warfare, anti-terrorism, intelligence, and some other things that he's not supposed to talk about. Being a sailor, he's been known to tell stories about "events which really happened (but cannot be verified by any independent sources)." This experience has served him well in writing fiction. He lives in Maryland with his indomitable wife “S” and three great kids (all three on the autism spectrum).
