That Darling DJ Duo

For some, Friday mornings are an exciting affair, due to the fact that they can tune-in for a trip to the airship Calpurnia, and a delightful visit with that darling DJ duo of Emmett Davenport, Lady Attercop and their weekly steampunk podcast, The Clockwork Cabaret.

For over ten years, the numerous Davenport sisters (Emmett, Klaude, Mingan & Olivier) and Lady Attercop have been stuffing their fans’ earholes full to brimming with poetry, comedy sketches, and “the music o’ gears”. For lesser folk, entertaining the teeming throngs week after week without fail would be more than enough to satisfy. However, our heroines are full of more ambitious stuff. In addition to their weekly radio show, they have been organizing, hosting and DJing the regularly scheduled Clockwork Balls, as well as sponsoring shows with performers like Jill Tracy, Vernian Process, the Clockwork Dolls, the Extraordinary Contraptions, Frenchy & the Punk, Not Waving But Drowning, the Ghost Project, Hellblinki, and many, many others!

With their shows and events they’ve inspired legions of fans, amassed over 30,000+ subscribers to their podcast, introduced many to the wild, wonderful world of steampunk, and created an oasis for all things steam-powered both on the airwaves, and in the flesh. Their dedication has earned them accolades, awards, and made them the subject of documentaries. They’ve been featured in both the local and international media, made appearances in several short stories and at least one webcomic, and have, to date, amassed four proposals of marriage.

In the words of Professor Guggenheim, the 56 year old alternative reality anthropologist: “The world they have created sits in a curious and precarious position. Within the wonderful world of steampunk, they are leaders that refuse to lead. With a refreshing attitude of ‘don’t let people tell you how to play make-believe’, they have placed steampunk in a box with no sides.”
