Communications Director

Qualifications

  • Must have graphic design experience and submit portfolio for consideration
  • Preferred formal education in graphic design and/or communications
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work well with others
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher); Adobe Design products (InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat); email / internet
  • Knowledge of content creation strategy for different platforms & audiences
  • Knowledge of CRM or email campaign software, specifically MailChimp
  • Attention to detail with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate creative and storytelling skills
  • Exceptional time management, planning, and organization required
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team setting while also being able to remain flexible in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality / privacy of information
  • Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends. Open availability in late summer is key to the position
  • Strong customer service skills, interpersonal and communication skills required

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Director will support Senior Leadership by providing integrated communications and graphic design support for convention communications
  • Responsibilities include oversight and creation of all graphic and design projects, creating innovative and engaging deliverables to present organizational messaging in an efficient manner and coordinating with internal teams from the design concept phase through completion of projects
  • Coordinate, create, and/or oversee all aspects of communication such as, but not limited to, quarterly newsletters/e-blasts, website updates, advertisements, digital displays, and onsite publications
  • Support the quality control of all Convention communications by ensuring brand standards are met, and all communications are error-free and consistent across all platforms (proofreading, copywriting, grammar, and language advising, etc.)
  • Support the leadership team with miscellaneous projects when necessary
